Three more translations

It's always mail that writers love to read: those in which the rights manager of your publishing company tells us that there will be another foreign edition of one of your books.
At the end of December illustrator Anton Van Hertbruggen and me heard that there will be a Slovenian edition of our book The dog that Nino didn't have (Het hondje dat Nino niet had, originally issued by De Eenhoorn). It will be published by Sodobnost. Thanks so much, we're happy!

The book that Marije Tolman and me made, Little Fox, found several publishers in Germany (4) and France (3) interested. After the book already was being sold to Russia, we are now happy to announce that the French edition will be published by Albin Michel and the German by Gerstenberg. We are so looking forward to seeing these new editions, thanks, publishers, and thanks Luciënne van der Leije, Querido's foreign rights manager, for this cheerful news!

NINO WINS THE FRENCH PRIX SORCIÈRES

THE DOG THAT NINO DIDN'T HAVE (or in Dutch: HET HONDJE DAT NINO NIET HAD), my picture book with the amazing young Belgian artist Anton Van Hertbruggen just came out in China, which is great.

But even greater is the latest news: the French translation by Marie Hooghe, LE CHIEN QUE NINO N'AVAIT PAS, is awarded with the Prix Sorcières, an annual prize, organised by the ALSJ (Association des Librairies Spécialisées Jeunesse) and the ABF (Association des Bibliothécaires de France).

In the 'album' category past winners have been artists by the likes of Wolf Erlbruch, Anthony Browne, David Wiesner and Peter Sís - and now it's our book. We are so grateful!
Congratulations also to the translator and to our French company Didier Jeunesse.

FRENCH RADIO ABOUT NINO

Last Sunday, the picture book I made with illustrator Anton Van Hertbruggen, LE CHIEN QUE NINO N'AVAIT PAS, was mentioned on French national radio.
It's the French translation of HET HONDJE DAT NINO NIET HAD (THE DOG THAT NINO DIDN'T HAVE), originally published at De Eenhoorn in Belgium.
This book got the top awards for illustration, both in Belgium and The Netherlands, and the rights were sold to Denmark, Germany, France, China and the United States.
The French edition was issued by Didier Jeunesse.

If you speak French you could listen to the first two minutes of the emission, here. Or read the text through the same link.
